Coat Drive
October 19th through November 23rd, New Covenant Academy’s Future Business Leaders of America, the Junior Class and the National Honor Society will sponsor a community wide blanket and coat drive to benefit The Kitchen, Inc. New Covenant Academy is a Christian college preparatory school serving Junior K-12th grades for 30 years.
“With the weather getting colder, the request for cold weather items has grown tremendously. This drive will provide the coats and blankets that are so desperately needed,” stated Rorie Orgeron, CEO of The Kitchen. Currently there is a list of over 400 individuals waiting to get into The Kitchen’s Missouri Hotel, a shelter for women and families. More than half on the list are children. The Kitchen’s Community Outreach program has provided 300 individuals with winter clothing vouchers since October 1st. Coats and blankets collected will be distributed to women, men and children in the Springfield community who are in need.

New Covenant
Residents of The Kitchen, Inc.'s programs enjoyed New Covenant Academy's Light of the World Christmas party for the first time in 2008. New Covenant Academy has graciously offered to host Light of the World for the residents again in 2009. You can view a video of the event from last year.
