For the 23nd year, the local Knights of Columbus councils will sponsor the “Knights Striking out for The Kitchen” bowl-a-thon. More than 300 individuals will participate in the fundraising event in hopes of reaching this year’s goal of $60,000.

In 2017, The Kitchen, Inc. provided housing and stabilizing services to 637 individuals. That’s 324 households with 105 households that included children under the age of 18. Of the 637 individuals, 135 at-risk and homeless veterans were served through The Kitchen’s Home at Last program. The cost of these services is approximately $23 a day. In addition to our housing programs, The Kitchen’s Rare Breed Youth Outreach Center served more than 1,000 youth and averages 70 youth a night.

The Bowl-a-Thon is open to the public—anyone who wants to help The Kitchen, Inc. and have a fun time!  Drawings for prizes will be held for those in attendance.  There will also be more than $3,000 in raffle prizes. Most of all, bowlers will make a big impact in helping us end homelessness.

This year, everyone is asked to bring canned food items to place in collection barrels at each of the bowling centers.  Over the past several years, thousands of pounds of food and supplies have been collected for The Kitchen, Inc.

Every dollar raised from the bowl-a-thon goes directly to The Kitchen, Inc. because the Knights of Columbus generously cover the costs to host and plan the event.
