Knights Raise More Than $50,000 for The Kitchen, Inc.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (June 28, 2016) – The Knights of Columbus will be presenting The Kitchen, Inc. with a sizable donation today, Tuesday, June 28, 2016. The check presentation is at 7:00 p.m. during the Knights of Columbus meeting at Holy Trinity Church (Parish Hall), located at 2818 East Bennett in Springfield.

Participants raised $53,757 for The Kitchen, Inc. during this year’s Bowl-A-Thon. Every penny, nickel, dime and dollar from the annual event goes directly to The Kitchen, Inc. The Knights of Columbus covers all the costs of the fundraiser. In addition to raising money, the more than 600 participants donated canned goods and non-perishable items that were distributed to our area’s homeless. Over the past several years, thousands of pounds of food and other items have been collected at the Bowl-A-Thon.

The money raised helps The Kitchen, Inc. provide shelter, food, clothing, rent and utility assistance as well as many other services to our area’s homeless women, families, youth and veterans. In 2015, The Kitchen, Inc. served more than 600 people including 151 children.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s event. It is scheduled for January 15, 2017.
