The Kitchen, Inc. is proud to announce the approved grant for over $20,000, on December 10, 2019.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Springfield, MO – The Kitchen, Inc. is proud to announce the approved grant for over $20,000, on December 10, 2019. The grant was endowed by Springfield Black Tie, Inc. The grant awarded will enable our Rare Breed program to facilitate the focus on welcoming people of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, and sexual orientation. The Rare Breed Housing Program housed a total of 26 youth households in 2018 and spent nearly $110,000 last year to cover rent, utilities, deposits, application fees, and property expenses. Within 2019, Rare Breed has already housed 56 youth households. With the support of Springfield Black Tie, Inc. we will be able to provide housing for LGBTQ+ youth in the coming year. “The Kitchen Inc. is most grateful for Black Tie’s continuing partnership with our Rare Breed Youth Outreach Center. Black Tie’s support allows the Rare Breed to continue to serve one of our community’s most vulnerable populations, youth experiencing homelessness, especially LGBTQ+ youth” said Ryan, Grants and Compliance Coordinator. “Thanks to Black Tie’s generosity, the Rare Breed is able to provide housing and case management services to LGBTQ+ youth who otherwise might not have a welcoming place to go to receive the services and help they need”. The Kitchen, Inc.'s mission is to bring stability and purpose to people who are homeless. Our goal is a community without homelessness and our five core values are respect, dignity, quality, service, and compassion.
