A Full Circle Investment: Brad’s Volunteer Story

Four years ago, Brad Beach visited McClernon Villas after some of his insurance clients asked if he could volunteer to call bingo once a month in their clubhouse. Brad, always open to connecting with others, said yes. What began as a small favor soon turned into something much more meaningful.

Volunteers Bring a Sense of Belonging

Now, Brad is involved in all six of The Kitchen, Inc.’s affordable housing communities. By hosting bingo, game days, potlucks, cookouts, and holiday meals, he helps residents connect, share laughs, and feel like they belong.

Brad’s wife, Stephanie, joined him not long after. Together, they have become familiar and friendly faces that residents are happy to see. Their impact is clear. People smile more, talk longer, and build new friendships. Brad even shared that a couple who met at a bingo event later got married, showing just how strong the sense of community can be.

Brad has seen for himself how making connections can change lives, especially for seniors in our 55+ affordable housing communities. These connections turn isolation into friendship, support, and a new sense of purpose.

Brad’s Personal Connection

Brad’s experience became even more personal when his own mother moved from Southern California to one of The Kitchen, Inc.’s properties. After just one event, she felt the warmth and sense of belonging and knew she had found home. Now closer to family, she is surrounded by a community that makes sure she is never alone.

Volunteers Build Stronger Communities for Seniors

Sadly, many seniors in our community still feel lonely and isolated. Volunteers like Brad and Stephanie are helping to change that every day. By giving their time and showing kindness, they are helping to build stronger, more connected communities where people can thrive.

When asked what he would say to someone considering volunteering with The Kitchen, Inc., Brad put it simply: “The Kitchen is a great place to invest your time. That’s really what it is, an investment. When you invest your time in them, they invest it back in you. They care about you.”
