Missouri Homeowners Now Eligible for SAFHR Assistance

The Missouri Housing Development Commission (MDHC) introduced SAFHR for Homeowners, a program that will provide nearly $140 million in needed assistance to homeowners, while also maintaining the rental and utility assistance program. SAFHR for Homeowners is now live at SAFHRForHomeowners.com.

Eligible Missourians can receive assistance to get caught up with their primary mortgage by applying in as little as 15 minutes. Eligibility and documentation requirements are clearly outlined at the application link above. This program will work directly with mortgage servicers to provide mortgage reinstatement, which pays past due primary mortgage balances to prevent foreclosures.

SAFHR for Renters will continue providing both rent and utility arrears for the period beginning April 2020 and up to 3 months of forward rent and prepaid utility assistance for eligible Missouri residents who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible tenants can apply for financial assistance to be paid directly to their landlord or utility provider. Utilities include gas, electricity, water, sewage/wastewater, fuel (propane, wood, etc.) and trash. Missouri renters may apply for utility assistance even if they are not applying for rental help. Landlords looking for assistance on behalf of tenants can visit the SAFHR for Landlords portal.
